First Office Hours

Today we had office hours for the first time.

We essentially received instructions, details about the tasks we've been assigned and a space to ask questions.

We also have been invited to the official Discord, which I just joined.

The first assigned task was learning to use cscope. Well, I'm working on that, though I'm quite used to using `global` (gtags). But it seems that cscope could also be a great addition to my workflow.

In the past I have used gtags, and also complemented a KernelNewbies article including how to use it very recently (I hadn't used in a while and had to get a place to look at it easily in the future if I ever forget the shortopts again :D

Our next steps include things like:

• Start working on our 5-10 patches (graduation requirement)
• Start a blog/write-up summarizing our work for graduation
• Avoid using AI (which would totally miss the point of the mentorship anyway)
• Learn how to use static analysis tools (Smatch, Coccinelle, KMSAN, KCSAN, etc.) and self-test frameworks (KUnit, KSelfTest)
• Go through the available resources including talkins and webinars about tools, documentation and our areas of interest
